Only if he is extremely sedentary!  Pet portraits are based on photos that you provide.  See my "creating a portrait" page for more information.

How long have you been painting animals?
Previous to exploring Pet Portraiture, I painted many different types of animals such as bears, otters, gorillas, musk oxen and even dolphins!  I have photographed animals in their natural habitat and have done some photographic pet portraits.  I have also used found objects to portray animals such as bear, moose and crows.

What made you interested in painting animals?
I have always loved animals and find their ways and personalities fascinating.  I have found myself happier in the company of my dogs than with some people!  I find watching animals an unending source of pleasure, and painting them an unending source of material!  I am an advocate for the humane treatment of all species.

When did you become interested in art?
I consider myself to be a life long artist!  My mother was an artist and growing up art was a part of life.  A favorite game in our house was squiggles, where one person would made a squiggle on a piece of paper and the next person would turn it into a drawing.  My family is filled with artistic talent!

Beyond Pet Portraits, do you actually sell your work?
Yes.  I have paintings, photography and mixed media in private collections from California to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.  My mixed media "Empty Nest" was purchased by a curator at the Newark Museum of Art for her personal collection.  My photographs are in the collections of Mt St Mary College,  Newburgh, NY, Ringwood Public Library,  Ringwood, NJ and the Berlin Town Clerk's Office,  Berlin, VT.

Have you won any prizes?
Yes.  I have won best in show and best in category awards; first place, second place and honorable mentions, in group exhibitions across New York and New Jersey.

Here are a few of my awards.
